GOTLAND SHEEP

Gotland sheep originate from the Swedish island of Gotland.  They are a smaller, hardy breed known for their beautiful lustrous fleece, friendly temperaments and mild, good flavoured, close-grained meat.  They range from white to black in color, but are most commonly grey with clean head and legs.  Rams weigh between 165-190 lbs while ewes are between 120-155 lbs.  They are excellent mothers with a high lambing rate and abundant milk production.  Gotlands are naturally polled and short tailed.
